15+ years on construction-industry software
C#/.NET desktop application for truss manufacturers, and a Blazor web app that helps plants cut cost and waste.
I'm Brian Gunn. For more than 30 years I've built software at every level of the stack: bootloaders and device drivers, embedded Linux, set-top box middleware, Windows applications and cloud web apps. Okopipi Software brings that experience straight to your project.
When a bug crosses layers, someone has to follow it from the UI down to the hardware and back. That has been my job for three decades.
Blazor and ASP.NET line-of-business apps, Angular front ends, Node.js REST services and serverless back ends.
Large, data-heavy C#/.NET desktop software, WPF interfaces and SQL Server back ends, plus classic MFC/C++.
Set-top box and PVR middleware, streaming clients, conditional access and graphics stacks tuned for limited memory.
Linux kernel modules, Windows NDIS, USB and serial drivers, Bluetooth with BlueZ, and cross-compiled build systems.
Bootloaders, BIOS work, secure system upgrade and microcontroller firmware, written in C and assembly.
Board bring-up, SPI and DSP prototypes, custom PCB design, and reading generated assembly to catch compiler bugs.
Two consulting firms, an embedded OS vendor, a protocol analyzer maker and a gaming startup, all leading up to Okopipi Software.
C#/.NET desktop application for truss manufacturers, and a Blazor web app that helps plants cut cost and waste.
Hardware abstraction layer for the port, including tracking down compiler bugs in generated assembly.
Embedded Linux on Intel Canmore, Bluetooth via BlueZ, middleware and memory optimization.
Angular front ends, Node.js REST APIs, DynamoDB and Lambda, shipped in Docker.
Graphics subsystem on DirectFB, OS abstraction layer and flash driver.
Bootloaders, drivers and conditional access on VxWorks and uClinux, plus technical lead on a TV platform.
Okopipi Software is Brian Gunn, a B.S. Computer Science graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with additional coursework in embedded hardware design at UC San Diego Extension.
I work directly with clients, from the first requirements conversation to the last bug fix. Outside client work I build things for the RepRap 3D printer community, contribute fixes to the Haxe and OpenFL open source projects, and design synthesizers for Atmel microcontrollers.
